Belleville, IL. (7/17/22) Offering a fast-paced double-header weekend of racing excitement at Route 66 Motor Speedway, the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series presented by MVT Services would travel to Texas with outstanding action aplenty as John Carney II and Casey Burkham would divide feature wins over the weekend of feature racing excitement.
Kicking off the Route 66 Motor Speedway doubleheader weekend on Friday night would see Jesse Baker and Casey Burkham each notch heat racing wins with Burkham gaining the pole-starting grid for the feature event.
Going green flag feature racing Friday would find fourth-starting John Carney II rocket to the front of the field to earn his series-leading third career DWSS victory with Caleb Saiz maintaining a solid runner-up showing.
Seventh starting Lorne Wofford would finish third as pole-sitter Casey Burkham placed fourth with Brett Becker rounding out the top five feature finishers for the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series and Night One of the Weekend Double-Header at Route 66 Motor Speedway.
Cruising into the final night of the Texas doubleheader would witness Lorne Wofford and Don Grable each claiming heat race wins with Grable earning the high-point award to notch a pole starting spot.
Feature action Saturday would find Casey Burkham wheel his way out front from starting fourth to protecting the lead to notch on his way to the first career POWRi DWSS feature victory with Night One winner John Carney II cruise from starting seventh to finishing runner-up as pole-sitter Don Grable finishing in the final podium placement.
Contending up front for the feature, outside front-row starter Caleb Saiz would finish fourth with Rick Ziehl rounding out the top five feature finishers for the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series and Night Two of the Weekend Double-Header at Route 66 Motor Speedway.
