Lincoln, IL– Jeremy Camp of Blue Mound, Illinois wired the Illinois SPEED Week finale at Lincoln Speedway with the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series, while Nick Howard sealed up the Illinois SPEED Week Championship.
Coming out of turn four, Jeremy Camp would get the jump on Nathan Benson and stay out of striking distance until late in the race when Aaron Andruskevitch had a full head of steam after the final restart on lap 14. Andruskevitch would pull alongside Camp coming to the stripe, but Camp would edge Andruskevitch at the line for the win. Nathan Benson would finish third, while Nick Howard’s fourth place finish was good enough to seal the deal to become the Illinois SPEED Week champion with the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series. Aidan RoosEvans was the recipient of the Sport City Honda of Jacksonville Hard Charger Award.
“You just never know who’s back there,” said Jeremy Camp. “It’s just wide open on the bottom, but he made the middle work. We were a little loose off four, there just wasn’t as much rubber, but we made it work. Car’s been great all week, just got to fine tune it the past couple of nights and now we’re on a rail.”
“Just short just a little bit,” Aaron Andruskevitch stated. “He had a really good line on the bottom and the track was rubber, from bottom to top. It was a momentum deal. Congratulations to Jeremy on the good run and Nathan Benson. When you run with POWRi, these guys are the best of the best.”
“We’ve got another $400 gone in tires,” commented Nathan Benson. “I don’t know why they bring the grader out and scrape all the good off the track. It’s a frustrating week, but congrats to Nick Howard on the SPEED Week championship.”
