Derrick Black and Joseph Johnson Win at Sandia Speedway’s Zia Nationals with POWRi DMSS

Belleville, IL. (7.2/24) Returning to the outstanding hosting venue of Sandia Speedway for two- nights of racing enjoyment, the POWRi Desert Micro Series would display dedicated driving displays in the Zia Nationals as Derrick Black and Joseph Johnson would seal the feature victories in the weekend pairing of Non-Wing Micro action.

Kickstarting the duo-nights of racing excitement with sixteen entries at Sandia Speedway with the POWRi Desert Micro Sprint Series would witness recent winner Devon Amos and driving ace Aydan Saunders each notch the heat racing wins while Derrick Black would earn the high point qualifier award for the event.

Going green flag racing in the feature would find Derrick Black wheeling their way to victory after starting pole position to win his inaugural series victory. Fourth-starting Aydan Saunders would move forward a pair of positions to finish runner-up with sixth-starting Eric Bartlett placing third as hard-charger Connor Lundy advanced eight positions to finish fourth ahead of Joseph Johnson rounding out the top-five finishers at Sandia Speedway on Night One of the Zia Nationals.

Reentering the racing surfaces on Night Two of the Zia Nationals at Sandia Speedway would witness twenty entries in the POWRi Desert Micro Sprint Series division as Jeff Brumfield III, Devon Amos, and Joseph Johnson would each notch the heat racing wins while Bob Harrington would earn the semi-feature for the event.

Feature event racing would see Joseph Johnson taking the victory after starting fourth position to win his first career win after the twenty-five lap main event. Fifth-starting Eric Bartlett would move forward a trio of positions to finish runner-up with ninth-starting Jeff Helms placing third as Jeff Brumfield III finished fourth ahead of hard-charger Jeff Brumfield Jr who advanced nine spots to round out the top-five finishers at Sandia Speedway on Night Two of the Zia Nationals.
